JAMES BARNES (OR “DREAMY BOY” AS SOME PEOPLE MIGHT SAY) CAME INTO LIV FOSTER’S LIFE A MONTH AGO WHEN HE TOOK OVER AS HEAD BARTENDER AT HER FAVORITE LOCAL HANGOUT, ODIN’S RAVENS, IN NORNSTOWN, CT. NEARLY EVERY DAY FOR 30 DAYS NOW, SHE AND HER BEST FRIEND STEVE HAD GRABBED A FEW DRINKS THERE AFTER WORK, AND JAMES IS KILLING HER WITH HIS INCESSANT FLIRTING. HER LITTLE CRUSH HAS TURNED INTO A “WHEN MY BODY EXPLODES FROM UNRESOLVED TENSION, TELL MY PARENTS I LOVED THEM” OBSESSION. THEREFORE, SHE’S JUST GOING TO BITE THE BULLET AND FINALLY GO FOR IT WITH HIM AT ODIN’S RAVENS ANNUAL OCTOBER 31ST “DRINKS TO DIE FOR!” PARTY TONIGHT. IT WOULD BE A PERFECT NIGHT, COMPLETE WITH DRINKING, DIRTY DANCING, MAKING OUT IN COSTUMES, THEN GOING BACK TO HER PLACE TO DO A FEW EXTRA CURRICULAR ACTIVITIES. HER “TO DO LIST” WAS NOT SUPPOSED TO INCLUDE GOING TO A TERRIFYING HAUNTED HOUSE WITH THE BAR OWNER’S SLIGHTLY EVIL (BUT SLIGHTLY GORGEOUS) SON LOKI AND HIS ENIGMATIC GIRLFRIEND SIGYN.
“Well hi there, Olivia Foster,” he drawled, grinning crookedly at her.
Good lord, his voice would have been the death of her if she wasn’t dead already. She swallowed, hopefully not audibly, and smiled.
