a Thousand words
When I first imagined what might happen if I pulled a few Norse gods and goddesses out of their mythological place in the stars and dropped them instead into Earth’s atmosphere a few miles above New York City to let gravity do its worst, I pictured a short “will they, won’t they” story. However, in a beautiful and unexpected plot twist, my short story took a turn into “full-length novel” territory.
As I typed each word, I swear that I saw my hands weaving the ancient, spindle-made threads of iconic, thousand-year old, fictional characters into the fiber optic cables of our tech-savvy, factual 21st century world. But I saw more than words alone. On my screen, I saw an electric tapestry of silver-lined cloud nines in a thunderstorm of “to the stars and back” lost love.
I remain madly in love with New Year months after writing the last word…and after creating the last electric tapestry picture worth thousands of them.
